Match the measurement type before entering a value
Metres and feet describe length, while kilograms and pounds describe weight in this workspace. They cannot be converted into each other without additional information about the object. Choose the correct category rather than treating a familiar number as interchangeable across measurement types.
Example: convert a length and a temperature
One metre corresponds to approximately 3.28083989501 feet in the displayed result. For temperature, 0 degrees Celsius corresponds to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, not zero. This illustrates why a temperature conversion cannot always be performed by multiplying by one factor. Use the correct source and target selections for each case.
Round only as much as the task allows
The workspace rounds displayed numeric results to 12 significant digits. A converted measurement is not more accurate than the original measurement itself. Keep units with the result, and apply any task-specific rounding at the end. This tool does not determine tolerances, validate an instrument or choose the measurement standard required by a project.
